Fantasy book podcasts have resumed

After a busy summer of mostly having fun, except for cowering from horrendous wildfires in the area, I have restarted my podcasts from the fantasy novel Union of Renegades: The Rys Chronicles Book I.

Last night I put up my recorded reading of Chapter 10 Wolfsong. In this chapter the main hero and heroine of the story must fight the elements and fearsome beasts of the Wilderness while unknowingly being drawn deeper into the unknown lands by a magical malevolent will that watches them from her nearby mountain realm.

I will be working to add several more podcast chapters from this fantasy book on a regular basis before taking a break again. Ultimately, I will have the entire novel podcast so as to complement its other free fantasy ebook version that is also available.

If you'd like to listen to a new fantasy novel, please visit my main podcasting page at:

http://www.falbepublishing.com/braveluck/fantasy_book_podcasts.html

An RSS feed to the podcasts is present as well, so please subscribe to the fantasy book podcasts to be kept up to date when new chapters appear.

New Conan movie in the works

Lionsgate is looking to produce a new Conan movie and even potentially create a whole movie franchise around the sword and sorcery hero. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate plans to stick close to the source material: Robert E. Howard's pulp stories from the 1930s.

I believe that Conan is well suited to supporting a multi-film epic fantasies. The original stories are numerous and Conan's adventures are always exciting and frequently sexy.

I sincerely hope that any new Conan movies stick to the hardcore spirit of Howard's Conan. The early 80s movie made by Oliver Stone and Edward R. Pressman "Conan the Barbarian" is one of my all time favorites, and its strong R rating is the reason. Who can't love a movie with an evil snake cult orgy in it?

If the movies choose instead to go PG-13, then they will be mediocre. Conan has a spirit that shouldn't be toned down and women and girls that should not be covered up too much. The recent success of the scantily clad and violent 300 would serve as a good template for future Conan movies.

A Dance with Dragons by George R.R. Martin preorder at Amazon

Oh...at long last...I see that A Dance With Dragons by George R.R. Martin is finally available for preorder from Amazon. The hardcover is supposed to be out on September 30, 2008. By the Maid and the Crone, I hope that date does not get bumped out. I painfully remember the publication date for A Feast for Crows getting moved out several months.

I've already gone through several stages of despair waiting for this novel. I intensely love Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy series. The first 3 novels were totally ALL THAT. Now Book IV got a little boring because he was focusing mostly on lame characters. The book did not have John Snow, Daenerys, or Tyrion in it, so that was a bummer. I dearly hope that A Dance with Dragons delivers on all counts.

The preorder price for the hardcover is pretty good.

To aid your wait for this fantasy book release, I recommend starting my epic fantasy series The Rys Chronicles. The first book Union of Renegades is a free fantasy ebook.

Dracula, Tarzan, Frankenstein...oh my! YouTube book trailer

I have recently started an Ebook Classics section at my publishing company. Some of the greatest icons of the cinema started as popular novels in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Tarzan of the Apes by the enormously popular Edgar Rice Burroughs is an exciting, romantic, and intelligent jungle fantasy that really surprised me with its quality the first and second time I read it.

Anyone who likes vampires should have Dracula on his or her reading list. Dracula is a creepy and fascinating novel that offers a unique reading experience.

Frankenstein, of course, is a powerful story that has been making people think for close to 200 years now. It's a free horror ebook download right now by the way.

Watch the YouTube book trailer for my Ebook Classics to get a feel for these great stories that all fans of science fiction, fantasy, or horror should indulge in.

Free download of Frankenstein ebook in 5 popular reading formats

At the age of 19, author Mary Shelley basically launched the genres of science fiction and horror when she wrote Frankenstein, which was first published anonymously in 1818. Her compelling masterpiece about the dangerous and unpredictable powers of creation remains relevant and gripping close to 200 years later.

To promote Falbe Publishing’s launch of its Ebook Classics section, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is available as a free classic ebook. Readers can choose from Adope PDF, MobiPocket (compatible with Kindle), Rich Text (compatible with Sony), HTML, and Microsoft Reader formats.

In addition to the free Frankenstein ebook, other great tales from old masters have been produced. Currently Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs and the peerless Dracula by Bram Stoker have just been released in the Ebook Classics section.

On the nonfiction front, The Art of War by the Chinese general Sun Tzu has been been produced as well. From the depths of ancient history, the strategic lessons of Sun Tzu can be applied to almost all problem solving challenges. It’s a fascinating read for lovers of history, and the principles of The Art of War are likely to stick with thoughtful readers.
